IDP Emergency Education
As a result of the Ethiopian occupation of 2007-8; and the ongoing clan-based and jihadist insurgency, some 366,000 people have been displaced into the Afgoye Corridor (just south of Mogadishu City); and anotehr ~80,000 people to other sites north of Mogadishu City.

From February 2008 until the present, SAACID has received funds from UNICEF to provide emergency education at 10 sites - 8 sites in the Afgoye Corridor, and 2 sites north of Mogadishu.

  2. Guulwadayaasha/Malesiya Camp
  3. Buundo-Carbis Camp
  4. Seynab/Jimale Camp
  5. Jawahir Camp
  6. SDM Camp
  7. Buulo-Serman Camp
  8. Al-Cadaale Camp
  9. El Ma’an Camp
  10. Galgalato/ El Adde Camp

Some 3,000 children are enrolled at the emenrgency schools.

While this initiative is conducted by SAACID's education sector team, it has been included within the emergency relief sector because of its being a specific emergency service to the most vulnerable.  See SAACID's Education sector for more on SAACID's education programming.
