(such as market rehabilitation). This consensus has been achieved through specialised leadership, management and conflict resolution training provided to grassroots leaders, using a UN-HABITAT training template. They have provided the basis for breakthrough initatives -
proving the peoples' capacity to work in peace - in a city fraught with
conflict.

Conflict Transformation and Governance
SAACID believes strongly that Conflict Transformation and Governance go hand-in-hand, and as such, has combined these two sectors into one.
SAACID's initiatives in conflict transformation include, but are not limited to:
SAACID's programme implementation methodology always involves working with and empowering local community leaders - whether for DDR, conflict resolution, or development programmes.
UNDP has been a core partner in DDR (SAACID has also partnered UNESCO in demobilisation and vocational training).

- Demobilization, Disarmament, and Reintegration (DDR) programmes
- Conflict resolution training
- Governance training in leadership, management, participatory planning, participatory budgeting, and gender inclusiveness
- Governance training in democracy, rule-of-law, federalism, good governance, and conflict resolution
- Practical arbitration and concilitiation
- Conflict mitigation centres
- Public infrastructure rehabilitations
